For any Severn Core Trainee with an interest in orthopaedics (Priority will be given to Core T&O trainees). Of note: this is one of five Core T&O Clinical Skills Training Days that Core T&O trainees are expected to complete over their two years of core training. Topics will include:

  • Common paediatric trauma management
  • Paediatric bone physiology
  • Non-accidental injury
  • Practical sessions on Supra-condylar fracture fixation, Saw-bone - Titanium Elastic nailing, Plaster casting & Traction application


Lunch and refreshments provided. Limited spaces available.

0830-1230 Lectures (All delegates)

  • Supra-condylar fractures
  • Non-accidental injury
  • Bone physiology
  • Limping child
  • Paediatric hip conditions

1230-1330 Lunch Provided

1330-1630 Practical Sessions (Group Work)

  • Elastic nail insertion - Saw-bone
  • Limb casting
  • Traction application

1630-1700 Feedback and Close
