Plastic Surgery for Surgical Trainees

Location: Southmead Hospital's Learning & Research Centre, Southmead Road, Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol BS10 5NB
For Core Surgery trainees and non-trainees. Of note: This course take place on the same day as Principles of Hip Fracture Management, which is a mandatory course for Core T&O trainees. The expectation for Core T&O trainees is that they attend the mandatory training day.
Overview
The course consists of a short program of lectures and then practical sessions on a variety of soft tissue reconstructive techniques and tendon repairs.
Includes:
- Basic principles of knot tying
- Instrument handling techniques
- Principles of wound closure and suturing
- Local skin flap reconstruction
- Pig tendon repair with modified Kessler, Adelaide and mattress techniques
